New Alzheimer's Drug to Begin Trials
(Source: Elan) - Elan and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals have announced plans to begin a Phase 3 clinical program of their lead drug, Bapineuzumab (AAB-001). The drug is intended for the treatment of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.

Seizures Caused by Colonoscopy Premedication
(Source: DocGuide) - Cornell University researcher's have found the first reported case of generalized tonic-clonic seizures induced by meperidine pre-medication for a colonoscopy procedure in a 63-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease. The active metabolite of meperidine, normeperidine, is believe to be the cause of the seizures.


UK Lewy Body Society - One Year Old
(Source: Medical News Today) - The Lewy Body Society in the UK celebrates its first year of operation on June 15, 2007, with a formal dinner at the Reform Club in London, UK. The charity is the only organization in Europe dedicated to Dementia with Lewy Bbodies (DLB), also known as Lewy body Disease.
